Baby Shower Themes

So many themes, so little time. We have compiled a list of great baby shower themes for the new mom-to-be. From traditional to a little off the beaten path, we hope our list will provide you with some creative ideas for your party.

When creating a theme based party, you decide on how much or how little to keep within the theme.

Items to consider include:

  • Location: home, park, (themed) restaurant or club, amusement park, rustic, by the water, etc. etc.
  • Cards: invitations, thank-yous
  • Decorations: wall, ceiling, banner, table centerpieces, balloons, flower arrangements
  • Tableware: tablecloths, plates, cups, napkins, serving plates
  • Food: cake, menu
  • Party Games: type, style (e.g. type: pinata game, style: baby buggy)
  • Party Favors
  • Music and/or Entertainment

Some themes will be difficult to find supplies for and require a little more creativity. Round up as many elements as you can and then fill in the rest with similar items or pictures or information that you can print off of the internet.   1. Disney Characters - Always a favorite. From Cinderella to The Little Mermaid, there's a Disney theme that can suit your party needs. Some favorites include: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Winnie The Pooh, Donald Duck, Goofy, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Pocahontas, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc. Toy Story, Mary Poppins, Robin Hood and The Jungle Book. Decorate with coordinated items, display the books, or items from the books, like Mary Poppins umbrella or Robin Hood's feather cap.
  1. Looney Tunes Characters - Characters include: Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety Pie, Sylvester the Cat, Tazmanian Devil, Porky Pig, Petunia Pig, Elmer Fudd, Pepe Le Pew, Foghorn Leghorn, Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Sam Sheepdog, and Speedy Gonzales. With this many characters, ideas are abound. Choose Speedy Gonzales and make a Mexican style party or the Tazmanian Devil and an Australian themed party. There are lots of choices here.
  2. Dr. Seuss - Dr. Seuss is a great series of books. Decorate with many of the coordinated products found in our eStore and/or add books around the room, or items from the books such as a tower of hats or a pan of green eggs and ham. These childhood stories should bring back memories for everyone.
  3. Zoo Animals - We have a lovely set of coordinated items in our eStore. Decorate with toy zoo animals, blown up pictures from your visit to the zoo, zoo brochures. Give zoo animal noses as party favors.
  4. Circus - From props for circus acts to animal figures, there is alot of room for creativity here.
  5. Nautical - A pleasant relaxing theme, and a great one for a boating enthusiast. boats, sextons, netting, etc. are all good decorating ideas.
  6. Super Heros - There are alot of super heros, batman, batwoman, superman, spiderman and wonderwoman just to name a few. If you're mom-to-be fancies herself a caped crusader, this might be the theme for her.
  7. Baby Items - We have a great selection of baby item themed products in our eStore. From baby bottles and booties, to baby clotheslines, to baby blocks we have it. Tableware, decorations, cookies, cookie cutters, favors, and much more.
  8. Favorite TV Show - The list here could be endless. If your mom-to-be has a favorite TV show, then this might be the theme for her. Get pictures and posters for decorations, serve food related to the show, adapt our favor and game ideas with the show in mind. She'll love it.
  9. Adventure Story Characters - Does the mom-to-be like adventure stories? Aladdan, Raiders of the Lost Ark? Then an adventure baby shower may be what's in order.
  10. Favorite TV Animation - There are many popular TV animations today and many from yesteryear. From Family Guy to the Jetsons to the Flintstones, you can design a fun baby shower using the characters and ideas from these shows. Is there a monitor available? Play clips in the background when there is a lull in the party.
  11. Princess - Generic princess, Cinderella, or Sleeping Beauty, it's always fun to be a princess. Make it your mom-to-be's day by making her a princess. We have a terrific selection of princess baby theme items in our eStore.
  12. Prince - So you know it's going to be a boy. A Prince theme may be in order to get ready for the new arrival. Visit our eStore for more ideas.
  13. Sweet Pea - A cute sweet pea theme gets everyone in the baby mood. Check out our eStore for a selection of decorations and coordinated party supplies.
  1. Monkey - Monkeys make for another cute theme. Decorate with stuffed animal monkeys and blown up photos. Look for coordinated supplies in our eStore.
  2. Noah's Ark - This is a lovely biblical theme. Decorate with pairs of stuffed animals, and blown up graphics and images. A religious store may have some interesting items you can use to decorate. For some other ideas, check out our eStore.
  3. Favorite Movie - Use the mom-to-be's favorite movie as inspiration for her baby shower. Are there interesting characters to play on? Was it set in an unusual place or time period? Decorate and serve food to match.
  4. Favorite Activity - Does your mom-to-be have a favorite activity? Fishing, bowling, softball, crafting, or rock climbing? If there's something that your mom loves to do then she'll appreciate a theme based shower of that activity. Use objects from the activity for decoration and keep it in mind when adapting shower games and favors.
  5. Rubber Ducky - Rubber duckies are always fun. Nice to have a bunch in your bath or as a theme to a baby shower. Visit our eStore for an excellent selection of rubber duckie baby shower supplies.
  6. Stuffed Animals - Another variation of an animal theme. Decorate with lots of stuffed animals which can double as party favors. Look at the Themes section in our eStore for animal decorations and party supplies.
  7. Cultural - Does your mom like cultural pursuits like the ballet or the opera? Then she'd love an opera or ballet themed party. Ballet slippers, tutus, a dance bar, playbill, posters of famous dancers or singers, are all good decorating options.
  8. Baby ClothesLine - When it's not real laundry, it's actually fun. Decorate with all kinds of little baby clothes, bibs, oneseys, etc., clotheslines and clothespins. Visit our eStore for supplies and additional ideas.
  9. Western - Is your mom-to-be a western enthusiast? Decorate with all things old west. Cowboy hats, boots, guns, rifles, cattle, etc. Get some country/western music to help set the mood. Serve a meal that a cowboy or gal would eat.
  10. Science Fiction - Does your mom-to-be know the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek? Then a party themed in another world may be the answer. If there is a monitor available play clips from old science fiction shows when there is a lull in the party. Decorate with out of this world items. Robots, phasers, land rovers, etc. etc.
  11. Location, location, location - Does your mom like to travel? Does she have a foreign city? Decorate to match. Put posters on the walls and travel pamphlets on the tables. Decorate with items from that country. Have music and food that transport everyone to that far away place.
  12. Nursery Tale - Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Tree Bears, these old nursery tales make for creative baby shower themes. Put copies of the books out along with items from the stories as decorations.
  13. Nursery Rhyme - Similar to Nursery Tales are the old Nursery Rhymes. Little Bo Peep, Little Jack Horner. If your mom-to-be loves old nursery rhymes then this might be the theme for her. Decorate by putting a large copy of one or many of the rhymes on the walls. Place small versions of the rhymes in frames on the tables. Decorate with items from each of the poems, stuffed animal sheep, a spring bonnet, etc.
  14. Trendy Mom - Trendy moms are cool. Check out our Modern Mom and Great Expectations Themes in our eStore for some fun ideas and supplies.
  15. Arts and Crafts - Does your mom-to-be love Arts and Crafts? Then a crafting shower it shall be. Decorate with some cratft items that can also double as party favors.
  16. Tiny Bundle - Soon the mom-to-be will have a new tiny bundle so this is a wonderful theme. Check out our eStore for supplies and ideas.
  17. Jungle Animals - One of our many animal based themes. Put pictures of jungle animals on the wall, decorate with stuffed jungle animals, which may also double as party favors. Get large potted palm trees. Hang some bannanas and a stuffed monkey from one of the trees. Visit our eStore to see some other jungle animal party supplies.
  18. It's a Small World - Celebrate the melting pot of ethnicities that is our world. Have chinese food for lunch and Italian for dessert. Put posters from different countries on the walls. Decorate with items from different cultures like sombreros, french berets, chopsticks, etc.
  19. Gardening - Is your mom-to-be a gardner? Place lots of flowering plants around which can also be used as party favors. Decorate with gardening tools, and place pictures of gardens on the walls. If you can, put up a small arbor at the entrance to the party room.
  20. Trivia Fun - Make it a shower with a trivia theme. Either mixed trivia or on a specific subject. Walls can be covered with Did you know? posters. Decks of trivia question cards can be left on each table. Trivia questions can be printed on some of the tableware.
